11 February 1963 The Beatles in one go, in just 10 hours, recorded all the material for their debut album Please Please Me.
Within three months after the release of the eponymous single, 22 March – the Beatles released their first LP disc, which is half of the year topped the British national chart. A year later on the same day the Beatles gave their first concert in Washington.
“From the beginning, The Beatles made history,” wrote journalist Tony barrow in the accompanying text to the Please Please Me album issued in the UK on 22 March 1963. Annotations, which were placed those days on the backs of plates, in fact, were the direct forerunners of today’s press releases.
While recording the CD, the band existed for two years and during that time managed to give numerous concerts in various clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg, so the material for the first album was enough. Of the songs not written by The Beatles, and is cover versions of popular songs. The other part is written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
The most successful was the title song “Please Please Me”, which was released as a single and became the first song by The Beatles, which topped the British charts. Also popular are “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Love Me Do”.
The Please Please Me album there are also songs by other artists, the most famous of them – “Twist and Shout”. The song required strong vocal, and John Lennon almost ruined my voice after recording this number. But producer George Martin had foreseen this, and purposely left the recording “Twist and Shout” the last of all the songs in the album.
Lennon later recalled: “We always left the “Twist and Shout” at the end of the concert. I couldn’t just sing the damn song, I always lose my voice”.
However, at the concert at the stadium “Shea” The Beatles sang it first.
The CD “Please Please Me” was recorded on-track equipment BTR. One track was used for instruments and one for vocals. Stereo mix was made later, with a slight overlay of reverb to the track are better blended.
